BOOKING: For all regular sessions a 50% nonrefundable retainer is required to book and hold the date for your session and serves as a cancellation fee. However, the fee can be credited towards a future session if rescheduled within thirty (30) days of cancellation. Remaining balance is due seven (7) days prior to the session date.
WEDDING PACKAGES: 50% booking retainer is due immediately to book and hold the date of your event and also serves as a cancellation fee. The retainer will be applied to the balance of your event, unless in the event of cancellation. Thereafter, the remaining balance is due seven (7) days before the date of the wedding.
PAYMENT: All retainers must be paid immediately upon booking via money order, certified check, PayPal, cash, Visa, Discover, MasterCard or AMEX. If agreed to by Melissa Schlicht Photography, a client may pay by personal check. Any non-sufficient fund checks, or checks that do not clear upon first deposit, will have an additional charge of $35 to cover bank fees, and remaining balance, including incurred bank fees, must be paid by cash or money order immediately.

CANCELLATION POLICY: For regular sessions, a client forfeits their 50% retainer, which acts as a cancellation fee. As previously stated, the fee can be credited towards a future session if the client reschedules within thirty (30) days of cancellation to an agreeable date and time.
For weddings and events, if for any reason the client cancels before the wedding date, Melissa Schlicht Photography will keep the event retainer as a cancellation fee. Cancellation must be made in writing, signed by the contracted parties, and sent via Certified Mail by the United States Post Office. However, if the client requires to change the wedding date, I will do my best to accommodate and no cancellation fee will be charged as long as the new date is available and within five months of the original event date. Otherwise, the new date will be subject to current rates, if applicable. If I am not available for the new date, the original contract will be cancelled and subject to the cancellation policy.
If for any reason, Melissa Schlicht Photography cannot perform this Contract due to fire or other casualty, strike, act of God, or other cause beyond the control of the parties, or due to photographer’s illness or emergency, then Melissa Schlicht Photography shall return the retainer fee to the client with no further liability with respect to the previously signed contract. This limitation on liability shall also apply in the event that photographic materials are damaged in processing, lost through camera or other media malfunction, lost in the mail, or otherwise lost or damaged without fault on the part of the Melissa Schlicht Photography.
In the event Melissa Schlicht Photography fails to perform for any other reason, Melissa Schlicht Photography shall not be liable for any amount in excess of all monies paid.
